Volodymyr Petrovych KravetsVolodymyr Kravets was born in 1947 in the town of Husiatyn, Ternopil region. He graduated with honours from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Ternopil State Pedagogical Institute (TSPI). He worked in scientific, teaching and management positions of TSPI, in particular as an Associate Professor of Pedagogy, Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. During 1990-2017 he was the Rector of Ternopil National Pedagogical University. During the years of his leadership, the Institute was reorganized into a University (1997), which gained the status of a National Higher Education Institution (2004). Since 2001 he has been a member of the Presidium of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, since 2005 a member of the Certification Board of the Ministry of Education and Science, since 2010 a member of the Presidium of the Union of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of Ukraine.
For conscientious creative work, he was awarded with the Orders of Merit of II and III degrees, the Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, departmental awards of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, local governments. In 2015 he became a member of the 100 best Ternopil residents. He was awarded the medal “For Sacrifice and Love for Ukraine” of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate and the Distinction of the Presidium of the Football Federation of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Petrovych Kravets is a Full member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine. He is the Specialist in the theory and history of pedagogy. His research activities are devoted to the problems of gender psychology, family pedagogy, premarital training of student youth. He has published more than 150 scientific papers.
Research interests - family pedagogy, premarital training of youth, sex psychology, sexual education of students, comparative pedagogy.
Hobbies - football, classical literature, travelling.
