Historical Background
The Department was established in 1973. In different years the Heads of the Department were: Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Martyn V.M.; PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Muzychuk F.M.; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Dziadykevych Yu.V.; PhD in Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Borsuk V.O.; PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Zhakhovskyi V.S.; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Korchemnyi M.O. Since 1989 Fedoreiko V.S., Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of AESU, has been the Head of the Department.
Currently, 7 teachers work at the Department:
- Professors: Doctor of Technical Sciences Fedoreiko V.S. and PhD in Technical Sciences, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Horbatiuk R.M.;
- Associate Professors, PhD in Technical Sciences: Pavkh I.I., Rutylo M.I., Zamora Ya.P.;
- Lecturers: PhD in Pedagogical Sciences Sitkar S.V. and PhD in Technical Sciences Bureha N.V.
Zahorodnii R.I., PhD in Technical Sciences is working on the implementation of the economic theme. The organization of material and technical support and maintenance of the educational process is carried out by the Head of laboratories Pushkar A.D., senior laboratory assistant Kotsuliak V.S. and senior laboratory assistant Brezden T.I.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Transport graduates students of the specialties 015.38 Professional Education (Transport) and 011 Educational, Pedagogical Sciences, at the first (Bachelor’s) and second (Master’s) levels of higher education. In addition, the Department trains specialists in specialties 014.10 Secondary Education (Labor Training and Technologies), 015.39 Professional Education (Digital Technologies).
7 student groups have been created and are currently working at the Department. Course, diploma and master’s theses are performed. Students and masters annually become winners of the All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers:
- in the field of engineering on the theme “Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics”, in 2020 received 21 diplomas;
- in the field of “Information and Computer Technologies in Education”, in 2020 two diplomas were received, which is one of the best indicators of TNPU faculties and universities of Ukraine.
The Department has a modern material and technical base. The educational process is carried out in the general auditoriums of the Department and specialized auditoriums and laboratories of the University in different areas costing more than 900 thousand UAH. Classrooms are sufficiently equipped with technical teaching aids (computers, multimedia, projectors, stands) and training and laboratory equipment, devices.
There are two scientific schools at the Department:
- under the guidance of Professor Fedoreiko V.S. 6 PhD dissertations in the field of energy were defended in the specialty 05.09.03 Electrical Complexes and Systems. On his initiative in 1998 the research laboratory “Energy Management” was established at the Department, which occupies one of the leading positions in Ukraine in the creation, testing and application of new technologies in the sector of diversification of energy sources, research in energy and energy efficiency.
- under the guidance of Professor Horbatiuk R.M. 6 PhD dissertations were defended in the specialty 01 Education/Pedagogy. He is a member of two specialized scientific councils for the defense of doctoral and PhD dissertations. He heads the subcommittee of the Scientific and Methodological Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of General and Professional Education on the development of standards of higher education in Ukraine. He is a member of the editorial board of the electronic journal the Ukrainian Journal of Educational Studies and Information Technology (indexed in databases: Index Copernicus (ICI Journals Master List database), Google Scholar).
Professor Horbatiuk R.M. is the Head of research work “Professional Training of Pedagogical Specialties by Means of Information and Communication Technologies” (state registration number: 011u002178) for which doctoral and PhD dissertations and students master's theses are performed.
The results of scientific work of teachers of the Department are scientific articles, abstracts of reports at regional and international conferences and seminars, teaching aids. During the years of the Department’s existence, scientists have published scientific and educational-methodical works with a total volume of more than 230 printed pages, including 7 monographs, more than 60 textbooks and more than 450 articles and abstracts. Over the past 10 years the staff of the Department has published 15 publications in Scopus, 5 in Web of Science and received about 15 copyright certificates and patents.
