History of the Department

The Department of Computer Technologies was established at the University by the order of the Rector from August 22, 2006 by reorganizing the departments of the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy to provide training for engineers-teachers in the specialties: “Professional training. Computer Technologies in Management and Training” and “Vocational Training. Engineering and computer graphics”. The first Head of the Department was Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Mykola Oleksandrovych Korchemnyi. In different years the Heads of the Department were: PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Borys Volodymyrovych Struhanets, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Horbatyuk Roman, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Ihor Vasylovych Hevko. Since February 2020, the Department is headed by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Ivan Mykolaiovych Tsidylo, a graduate of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University.

Scientific Work of the Department of Computer Technologies

Since 2017 the Department has been conducting research on research topics “Intelligent Information Technology in Education” (№ 0117U002179), which is a logical continuation of research on “Intelligent Technology in the Professional Activities of a Pedagogical Engineer” (№ 0112U004078) (2011-2016, supervisor Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Tsidylo I.M.). Scientists, together with students, develop automated robotic systems, intelligent and embedded information systems, decision support systems, ontological models of computer systems, databases and knowledge bases of the subject area in both technology and education.

In 2018, a research laboratory “Innovation Center of 3D-technologies of design and production” (supervisor Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor I.V. Hevko) was established, which occupies one of the leading positions of the Department and was created to teach students computer graphics - CAD-CAE systems, architectural visualization and the basics of 3D printing technology.

Teachers of the Department of Computer Technologies are working on a collective research topic: “Application of Modern Information and Communication Technologies in the Education System.” The results of scientific research are published in scientific journals indexed by international scientific and metric databases Scopus, Web of Science and others and are systematically reported at various levels of scientific, scientific-practical and methodical conferences, seminars, etc.

Internships of scientists of the Department take place both in domestic leading free economic zones and abroad: Turkey “Kilit Global” - Hevko I.V., Poland (Warsaw University, Jagiellonian University) - Hevko I.V., (Wyzsza Szkola Biznesu - National-Louis) - Tsidylo I.M., (Wyższa szkoła lingwistycznaw Częstochowie) - Lutsyk I.B., Rak V.I., Palchyk A.O., Potapchuk O.I., Yashchyk O.B.

During the existence of the Department teachers defended doctoral and master’s theses: Hevko I.V. – “The System of Development of the Foundations of Professionalism of future technology teachers in the process of professional training” (2018), Tsidylo I.M. – “Theory and methods of training future engineers-teachers to the application of intellectual technologies in professional activities” (2015), Ozhha M.M. – “Methods of teaching 3D systems for future engineers-teachers of computer profile” (2015), Potapchuk O.I. – “Formation of readiness of future pedagogical engineers to professional activity by means of information and communication technologies” (2016), Yashchyk O.B. – “Methods of teaching algorithmization and programming of high school students at the level of in-depth study of computer science” (2016), Kozibroda S.V. – “Using the system computer ontologies as a means of forming design competencies of future engineers-teachers” (2018, scientific supervisor Full Professor Tsidylo I.M.).

Under the guidance of the Department teachers, students annually, since 2013, participate in the second round of the All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers and in the second round of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in “Theory and Methods of Vocational Education” held at the Ukrainian Academy of Engineering and Pedagogy and win prizes.

The Department actively cooperates with the Institute of Information Technologies and Teaching Aids of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy in Kharkiv, Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University and other institutions of higher education of Ukraine.
