Department of Pedagogy and Management of Education

The Department of Pedagogy and Management of Education (originally called the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology) is one of the oldest departments of the University. It was established in 1940 as an independent departmental unit simultaneously with the creation of Kremenets Teachers Training Institute. The staff of the Department was given a major task to provide proper psychological and pedagogical training of future teachers. Subsequently, the Department of Psychology and Pedagogical Skills was established on its basis. Since 1983 the Department has been operating under the name “Department of Pedagogy”, but in 2014 the Department was renamed to the Department of Pedagogy and Management of Education. 


Kozeko I.K. was the first Head of the Department. Later Heads of the Department were: Oplavskyi I.H., PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor (1951 – 1953); Kharkevych V.Kh., PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor (1953 –1962); Smolii I.P., PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor (1962 – 1971); Fitsula M.M., PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor (later Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor) (1971 – 1977, 1983 – 1988, 1991 – 1998); Zalevskyi H.V., PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor (1977 – 1979); Yusim Yu.D., PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor (1988 – 1991); Vykhrushch A.V., PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor (now Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor) (1988 – 1991); Kravets V.P., Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine (1999 – 2014); Meshko H.M., Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor (2014 – present day).


Today, among the workers of the Department are Doctors of Pedagogical Sciences, Professors –Kravets V.P. and Meshko H.M.; Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Bodnar O.S.; PhDs in Pedagogical Sciences, lecturers –Vynnychuk O.T., Vykhor S.T., Hruts H.M., Nestaiko I.M., Radchenko O.Ya., Senovska N.L.; PhDs in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professors –Udych Z.I., Shulha I.M., Yatsyshyna O.V.; senior laboratory assistant Chuiko L.M.


The staff of the Department is constantly working on improving the educational process. The Department has a Master’s degree study in specialty 073 Management (educational and professional program of training Management of an educational institution). Today, 3 postgraduate students and 6 Doctoral Candidates carry out the researches at the Department.


The Department provides teaching of the following disciplines: “Introduction to the Pedagogical Profession”, “Pedagogy”, “History of Pedagogy”, “Preparation of Student Youth for Family Life”, “Fundamentals of Inclusive Education”, “Gender Pedagogy”, “Comparative Pedagogy”, “Psychology and Pedagogy of High School”, “Methodology and Organization of Scientific and Pedagogical Researches”, “State Educational Policy”, “Management of Organizations”, “Management of Labor Resources”, “Educational Activities Management of Educational Institutions”, “Audit and Evaluation of Management Activity”, “Modern Technologies of Management”. “History of Pedagogical Thought”, “Actual Problems of Vocational Education”, “Actual Problems of General Pedagogy”, “Health and Storage Technologies in Education”.


The lecturers of the Department work on the tasks of the state budget theme “Psychological and Pedagogical Mechanisms of Creating a Gender-fair Environment for Children and Young People in the Context of the Implementation of the Concept of the New Ukrainian School” (head - Professor Kravets V.P.), as well as the departmental theoretical theme “Theoretical and Methodological Principles of Training of Pedagogical and Managerial Personnel for Innovative Activity in Educational Establishments” (head – Professor Meshko H.M.).


The Department is the organizer and co-organizer of international, all-Ukrainian, regional scientific-practical conferences and management forums. In cooperation with the Academy of Innovative Development of Education, the lecturers of the Department conduct educational and psychological trainings for lecturers of Ukraine. The scientific activity result of the Department lecturers are monographs, scientific articles, educational textbooks and manuals, methodical developments. Pedagogical consulting center was established at the Department, which is aimed at supporting the professional activity, providing advisory assistance on the personal and professional development of lecturers.
