Erasmus+ KA2: Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity Development as a Way to Ukraine’s Multilingual Education and European Integration/MultiEd

Project duration: 15.11.2019-15.11.2022

Main priorities: education (updating the curriculum in the specialties "foreign language teacher / tutor" and the introduction of new teaching methods in the educational process), internationalization, lifelong learning.

The main stages of the project:

1) updating of bachelor's and master's programs in the specialty "foreign language teacher / tutor (English, German, French, Spanish)" on the basis of the European Qualifications Framework. Development of recommendations for the formation of topics and subjects of the program in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and EU standards;

2) adaptation and implementation of advanced methods of teaching foreign languages ​​in the educational process in Ukraine, including interactive methods, student-focused learning, communication methods, CLIL methodology (integrated subject and language learning through teaching a foreign language using special approaches) and updating subjects of the program through the introduction of these methods;

3) introduction of elective courses by universities in English for students of "bachelor", "master", "doctor of philosophy", including "Introduction to CLIL methodology", "CLIL methodology", "Foreign language acquisition", "Cultural anthropology and linguistic diversity" "," Research and Academic Writing "," Media Literacy ";

4) developing universities' own multilingual education strategy and offering students individual subjects in English in order to train highly qualified English-speaking graduates and to strengthen the level of internationalization of partner universities and the potential of higher education in general. This strategy will be the first step towards faster internationalization, accession to the European educational space and will raise Ukrainian universities in the world rankings. Development of recommendations for the internationalization of higher education;

5) holding the "International Week" for 80 participants from different Ukrainian and European universities will allow them to get acquainted and establish contacts for further joint international cooperation;

6) teacher training through numerous seminars on various methodological aspects of foreign language teaching and seminars for school administration in order to spread the experience of European countries in implementing a multilingual world and teaching subjects in English / German (1900 participants);

7) popularization of ideas of blended learning and lifelong learning among teachers, which will be provided by free seminars with the participation of European experts in different regions of Ukraine, as well as the development of an electronic training course which is named "CLIL Methodology" for teachers. This course will be developed jointly by all partners with the support of European universities, which will allow Ukrainian universities to develop high-quality e-learning courses in the future.
